Saturday: Libby 2nd in B-C softball

FRENCHTOWN — Libby closed out a two-year stay in Class B by finishing second at the Class B-C state softball tournament on Saturday.
The Loggers, who will return to Class A for the next school year, scored first and held a 3-2 lead after four innings before Florence battled back to claim the title with a 9-3 victory.
Florence scored three times in the fifth and seventh innings and added a run in the sixth.
Libby advanced to the championship game of the double-elimination tournament by ousting Mission 5-2 earlier in the day in loser-out play.
Jayden Winslow and Alyssa Marshall had two hits each for Libby. Marshall doubled once.
Florence’s Natalie Dulac went 4 for 5, hit three doubles and drove in four runs.
Florence edged Libby on Friday in semifinal play 1-0.
