Cabinet Peaks Medical Center announced Monday the addition of four scopes to its surgery department to improve patient care and increase staff productivity.

The two Olympus Colonoscopes and two Olympus Gastroscopes provide brighter and more powerful imaging, more comfortable ergonomics and are easier to set up, according to a news release.

“These new scopes offer brighter, more powerful imaging, as well as a Narrow Band Imaging which delivers significantly increased brightness, enabling twice the viewable distance compared to earlier scope models,” the news release states.

The news release continues: “For the comfort of the patient, these scopes provide smoother, more comfortable insertions with responsive insertion technology that combines three proprietary insertion tube technologies to facilitate complete scopes by improving handling, insertability and ergonomics.”

“Our new scopes provide a higher quality image which allows Dr. (Lance) Ercanbrack to better visualize the esophagus and colon,” Sandy Morse, nurse and surgery department manager, states in the news release. “This gives him the ability to better diagnose any problems he finds. These scopes also allow us to do more difficult cases if needed allowing us to keep more patients at home in Libby.”
