COEUR d’ALENE — Halle Hess had 13 kills and 14 digs for North Idaho College in a 25-16, 25-12, 26-24 Northwest Athletic Conference sweep of the Columbia Basin Hawks at Christianson Gym on Friday, clinching the top seed in the East Region to the conference tournament in two weeks at the Tacoma Trade and Convention Center.
“The girls came in focused and ready to go,” NIC coach Kelsey Stanley said. “It was a game that we had to win to become conference champs, and we put our head down and competed. I’m proud of how the girls overcame adversity from last week and focused on what was important at that moment. It was a fun match to be at and fun match to coach.”
Kayla Neumann had 10 kills and 10 digs, Haylee Templeton 34 assists and 12 digs for NIC (30-6, 14-1), which opens at the NWAC Tournament against the fourth seed from the North Region on Nov. 16. NIC concludes the regular season at Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.
Columbia Basin (26-6, 13-2) will face the third seed from the North in its opener.
