DRIVE: Help the Scouts

On Nov. 11, Boy Scouts will be calling on people to make donations of food for area food banks. I know shelves at the Community Action Partnership Food Bank have been pretty bare lately and it has been challenging for them to provide as much food as their clients like. Thanks to generous donations, turkeys and Thanksgiving food is at the food bank and ready to distribute starting Nov. 14. However, there is a strong need for additional food to stock the shelves.

Please support this important annual food drive by providing some nutritious food for hungry people in our communities. If a Boy Scout doesn’t come to your door, you can drop some food off at the food bank close to you. The CAP Food Bank, which serves all of Kootenai County, is located at 4144 W. Industrial Loop — off Atlas Road in Coeur d’Alene. They can accept food donations on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. or during the week from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Many people who go to food banks are veterans. Why not honor them on Veterans Day by donating some food?
