Denley Loge was recently recognized for his 16 years of service on the Board of Supervisors by the Mineral Conservation District and the Natural Resource Conservation Service. Denley retired from the Conservation District last year after he was elected into the Montana House of Representatives for District 14, where he represents Mineral and Sanders Counties.

“Denley is actively engaged in ranching and many other activities near St. Regis, and throughout Western Montana and he proudly carries on the conservation-minded ethics that his parents instilled in him,” said John Bowe, the District Conservationist from the USDA-NRCS Missoula Field Office.

His father also served on the Soil Conservation District Board for 35 years. When he retired from the board, it was Denley who took his spot.

“My dad instilled that one must be involved to earn the right to complain and help keep things moving forward,” Denley said about his dad, Maynard, who passed way in 2000. He just recently lost his mother, Clara who was 99 years-old.

In addition to these accomplishments he is also on the Mineral County Planning Board and was the state president of the Snowplow Driver’s Union for 10 years. As well as chairman of the Mineral County Resource Advisory committee for 10 years and the Mineral County representative for the Farm Service Agency for eight years.

“I’m over 10 gallons on Red Cross blood donations, so it boils down to the fact that I like to be involved,” he explained. “I like to feel I’m adding something to society and I have a variety of knowledge and use calm and common sense to help.”
