QUINCY — It looks like Paul Worley will become Quincy’s next mayor.
As of press time Tuesday, Worley, a member of Quincy’s city council, had established a substantial lead against challenger and former city council member Scott Lybbert.
Worley was leading with 360 votes, or 56.96 percent, to Lybbert’s 272 votes, or 43.04 percent, and looks to replace the city’s long-time mayor, Jim Hemberry, who decided not to seek re-election this year.
In the other contested Quincy City Council race, incumbent Luke Garrison — who was appointed to the council earlier this year following the resignation of Adam Roduner — appears to be handily dispatching challenger Joel Martin. Garrison has earned 359 votes, or 65.75 percent, to Martin’s 187 votes, or 34.25 percent.
Council members Andrew Royer and David Day have also been re-elected, having run unopposed.
The results however, are unofficial, as the Grant County auditor still has votes to count and will not certify the election until later in November.
