BONNERS FERRY — On Nov. 7, at 3:23 p.m., Hall Mountain Fire Departments responded to a call of a 60-foot-by-100-foot shop that was on fire, on Farm To Market Road.

The shop was used for repairs and had propane tanks and other fuel inside, and was fully engulfed in flames. Canyon-Lister Fire Department was called to assist. Local farmers also helped, bringing farm equipment.

Hall Mountain had an excellent turnout of volunteer firefighters, bringing three structure engines and two water tenders. The Hall Mountain Volunteer Fire Association Ladies Auxiliary supported the firefighters with food and hot coffee.

The icy road conditions proved hazardous, as Hall Mountain Volunteer Firefighter Sandy Steinhagen lost control of her vehicle on Westside Road when responding to the call. Despite suffering minor injuries, Steinhagen got a ride, leaving her damaged vehicle behind, to continue on and respond to the fire.

The firefighters extinguishing the fire were released at 8:30 p.m. At this time, it appears that the building was a complete loss, however no one was injured during the fire.
