Capitol Christmas Tree tour stops in Whitefish

Hundreds turned out in Whitefish on Monday afternoon for the arrival of the Capitol Christmas Tree, carefully packaged in a Plexiglas box and ready to travel to Washington, D.C. The tree was cut last week from the Kootenai National Forest and is an 81-foot-tall Engelmann spruce.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is seeking any information related to a tragic domestic animal shooting that occurred west of Marion off U.S. 2, in which a woman’s horse was shot through its shoulder and later had to be euthanized.

Annual tribute honors legacy of civil-rights leader

The annual Love Lives Here celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. is happening tonight at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Once again the event will be hosted by Rabbi Allen Secher and Erica von Kleist. It is free to attend, but donations will be accepted in the lobby for those who want to contribute.

Welcome home 495th returns from deployment to Afghanistan

The 495th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion is home again. Sixty-seven soldiers arrived at the Glacier Jet Center late Saturday night to cheers and tears, and hugs from family and gathered loved ones.
