Georgia Davis, 90

Georgia Lenore (Stoughton) Davis, 90, walked into the loving arms of Jesus on Nov. 8, 2017. Georgia was born March, 16, 1927, in Havre, Mont., to parents Harold and Dorothy Stoughton.

The family moved to De Borgia, Mont., in 1929, where she attended grade school until she went to her first year of high school in Wallace, Idaho. In 1942, her family moved to Spokane, Wash., where she attended Rogers High School. She graduated from there in 1945.

Georgia spent several years in Bartlesville, Okla., where she worked for a petroleum company and did miscellaneous bookkeeping jobs. In 1977, she moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. She continued her occupation as a bookkeeper for local businesses.

Georgia loved to do volunteer work and one her favorite organizations was hospice. She devoted 20 years to helping others through hospice ministries.

In February 1998, she married Chester Davis. She resided in Hayden, Idaho, until the time of her death.

Georgia loved adventure and for her 75th birthday, she wanted to take semi-truck driving lessons. Her instructor loved teaching her and thought she was a better student than her younger classmates. She had no plans to go on the road with a truck. It was just another fun thing she wanted to do. She loved to sew and plant flowers. One of her greatest joys was watching her Seattle Seahawks and the Gonzaga Bulldogs. Georgia wore her appropriate jersey for every game. She had a great sense of humor, loved to laugh and loved spending time with her big extended family.

Georgia was greeted in heaven by daughters Rebecca, Tina and Stephanie. She was also greeted by her brother, Merrill; her sister, Laura Lee and her parents. She leaves behind her husband, Chester Davis of Hayden; her daughter, Judy (Scott) Schiller of Springfield, Mo.; her brothers, Neil (Nyla) and Don (Debra) Stoughton; her four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Georgia will be forever missed.

The family of Georgia would like to give a very special thank you to Advance Health Care of Coeur d’Alene and Hospice of North Idaho for their excellent and compassionate care.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at Yates Funeral Home, Hayden Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, 9493 N. Government Way, Hayden, ID 83835. It would be a great joy to Georgia to know that she continues to help others.

You may visit Georgia’s online memorial and leave condolences at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
