Cheatham to seek election to Idaho Senate

After serving two terms as a state representative for District 3 in the Idaho Legislature, Don Cheatham who represents Post Falls, and portions of Rathdrum and Worley, announced he will run for the District 3 Senate seat in the 2018 primary election.

The position is currently held by Sen. Bob Nonini, who has announced his intention to seek the position of lieutenant governor in Idaho. Cheatham currently serves on the Education, Environment, Energy, & Technology, and Judiciary, Rules & Administration committees.

Cheatham previously retired as the southwest regional director for the Office of Infrastructure Protection, U.S. Department of Homeland Security, before serving in the Idaho Legislature. He was also previously employed in the private sector for Bank of America in corporate security as a vice president and regional manager. Prior to this, Cheatham retired as a supervisory detective with the Los Angeles Police Department.

Cheatham served in the U.S. Air Force. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from the California State University, Los Angeles and a California Community College, lifetime limited teaching credential.
