Mineral County is filled with small business from Haugen to Alberton. Shops include restaurants, gift shops, antique and grocery stores, service shops and much more. In honor of small businesses, American Express founded Small Business Saturday which will be held November 25. The day is designed to help support independently owned businesses.

The day began in 2010 and across the country an estimated 112 million customers shopped local on that day last year. Mineral County also has a strong artisan population and there are several craft shows held every holiday season. Small Business Saturday is also a reminder to support local artisans by shopping at craft shows for unique gifts that cannot be found anywhere else.

There will be a craft show in Alberton in the school cafeteria on November 24 from 10 to 3 p.m. On December 2 the Mineral County Library will hold its Christmas Bazaar from 10 to 3 with a visit from Santa at 2 p.m. in the Superior School Elementary Gym.

The Annual Holiday Stroll and Bazaar will also be held in Superior on December 2 at the old Superior Gym from 10 to 3 where Mineral County non-profit organizations line up to share their goods and refreshments. All proceeds stay in Mineral County to help those in need. Santa will arrive at 1 p.m. and there will also be a Gingerbread House making contest. Local churches will also be hosting craft shows including the Alberton Methodist Church on December 9.
