PINEHURST — With the Thanksgiving holiday tomorrow, awareness that there are several local residents in the Silver Valley may not have the means to provide their own holiday feast.

Fortunately Real Life Ministries Silver Valley plans to make sure everyone has a way to enjoy the holiday by providing a free traditional Thanksgiving meal at their church in Pinehurst.

“We have so many in our community who don’t have the means to cook their own meal or they don’t cook because only one or two live in their homes,” Real Life benevolence team leader Christy Jacobs.

This event will be the first of its kind for Real Life Silver Valley, but not for Jacobs, who has seen her living room slowly get more and more full each year, before suggesting to her husband (Pastor Gene Jacobs) that they put on the big event at the church.

“We are so excited for this event,” Jacobs said. “My husband and I used to host a dinner, and we would invite anyone over who needed a place to enjoy the holiday, but it started to get a little full so we decided to put on the dinner at the church and make the church an extension of our living room.”

Jacobs is planning on cooking for upwards of 200 people so there will be plenty of room for people looking for a place to get a gourmet meal.

“We have had so many people step up and donate for this event,” Jacobs said. “It is going to be a very special time for us.”

Real Life will also be providing rides to and from dinner for people who have transportation issues, but they must call ahead.

Real Life Ministries Thanksgiving dinner will be Thursday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., for more information or to schedule a ride call Christy Jacobs at 208-682-4944.
