Prep roundup: Warden splits pair at Othello jamboree

OTHELLO — Warden boys basketball split its two jamboree games at Othello High School.
Warden edged fellow South Central Athletic Conference East team Wahluke 16-15 and lost to host Othello 16-12. The Cougars shot 9-of-11 from the free throw line on the night.
Wahluke pulled away from Othello in its matchup and won 27-15.
“I felt good about what I saw,” head coach Wes Richins said. “We played hard.”
Warden graduated three talented seniors: JR Delgado, Tanner Skone and Adam Richins. Delgado is playing basketball for Community Colleges of Spokane this season.
Jack Hardman, Zach Richins, Martin Arriaga, Kaden Skone and Michael Egia are expected to make an impact for a Warden team comprised of mostly sophomores and juniors.

Cascade 60, Quincy 40
QUINCY — Quincy couldn’t shake its nerves and lost its season-opener to Cascade 60-40.
“We’re just a young team,” head coach Cory Medina said. “Just had a lot of nerves.”
Jackie Garces led the Jacks with 10 points; Hailey McKee added nine.

Moses Lake 3, Sunnyside 1
SUNNYSIDE — Maddy Garza rolled a team-high 192 and Moses Lake (1-2) earned its first win of the season against Sunnyside 3-1.
Led by Haley Rogers’ 154 pins, Moses Lake won Game 1 639-596. Camille Sanislo and Garza added 139 and 130 pins, respectively.
Garza posted her big score in Game 2, which the Chiefs won 759-605. Rogers continued her consistent afternoon with 157 pins and Sanislo scored 151. Cassidy Nelson was inserted into the lineup and added 149 pins.
Sunnyside edged Moses Lake in the first Baker game 121-116. Moses Lake clinched the match by winning the second Baker game 131-121.
Moses Lake hosts West Valley Thursday, 3:30 p.m., at Lake Bowl.
