Bloomstone developer seeks OK for final housing project phases

The Kalispell City Council on Monday, Oct. 2, will consider approving the remaining five phases of the Bloomstone housing development in north Kalispell.
Kalispell National Investment Co. LLC wants a green light from the city of Kalispell to subdivide the remaining 42 acres at the site and develop 96 lots.
Located on Treeline Road off Old Reserve Drive, near the U.S. 93 bypass, Bloomstone was approved in 2008 for 569 dwelling units on 85 acres. That approval expired during the ensuing years as the Flathead Valley experienced an economic downturn, so an updated application requires approval.
The first phase of Bloomstone was completed about two years ago and included 96 apartments — eight 12-plexes — and 25 single-family homes.
The Kalispell Planning Board held a public hearing Sept. 12 to consider the request, and voted to recommend approval of the Bloomstone preliminary plat.
The council also will consider a request from Lou and Eileen Kis to annex the easterly portion of a .43-acre parcel into the city and zone the portion of land RA-1 (residential apartment) upon annexation.
The council meets at 7 p.m. at Kalispell City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
