Homecoming festivities invade both ends of Mineral County last week

Alberton celebrates Homecoming

Maroon, silver and blue flowed freely down Railroad Street in Alberton on Friday as the students celebrated Homecoming Week. A week of festivities culminated with a 4 p.m. parade followed by a 7 p.m. varsity football game against Seeley. It was also Senior Night and Homecoming royalty and seniors were introduced during half-time.

Princesses were senior Kenneshia McComb, junior Kristina Solinger, sophomore Eryn Odell and there was not a freshman princess this year. Seniors were Alberton’s Isaac Warren, Superior’s Kaleb Ververis; Tucker McLees; Evan Hall and Connor Voll. The Lady Mountain Cats also had their Homecoming volleyball game on Saturday against Victor at 5:30 p.m. During the week leading up to the parade the grade school students adopted an athlete and did special recognition activities. On Monday was Pajama Day, Tuesday was Class Colors Day, Wednesday was America Day and Thursday was Mountain Cat Spirit Day. On Thursday there was also a pep rally and games.

Green and gold fill streets with St. Regis Homecoming

The streets of St. Regis filled with green and gold on Friday morning on September 29 as the school’s Homecoming Parade made its way down Old Highway 10. The parade started around 11 a.m. with pom-pom waving students, a marching band and floats. Homecoming royalty waved to the crowd and were introduced during half-time at the football game held that evening against Valley Christian.

The royal court consisted of seniors Robert Dahl and Anna Sanford, junior’s Damon Dufresne and MacKenzie Start, sophomores Keanan Taylor and Lolo Falkenhagen, and freshmen Zane Antos, Emma Davis.

During Homecoming Week student dressed up in wacky costumes starting on Monday with Tropical Day. Tuesday was Celebrity Day, Wednesday was Disney Character Day, Thursday was Harry Potter Day and Friday was Green and Gold Day.

There was also a pep rally on Friday after the parade which included cheers and relay races. The varsity volleyball team played their Homecoming game against Hot Springs on Saturday at 6 p.m.
