COEUR d'ALENE — Every dog has its day, and that day may be coming soon for your stage-bound hound.
Christian Youth Theater — North Idaho will hold auditions for the role of Sandy in the upcoming production of "Annie." Auditions will be Saturday from 2 to 3 p.m. at Northern Dance Academy, 147 E. Aqua Circle, Dalton Gardens.
More than 80 children ages 8-18 are currently enrolled in CYT's fall session of theater arts classes, but still needed is Sandy, Annie's dog found on the streets of NYC in Act 1 of the show and who also takes the stage in Act 2.
The canine performer should be friendly and not afraid of noise or hugs from kids — more than 110 kids and adult volunteers will be rushing around the stage.
Those interested are invited to bring their dog on a leash. Audition forms will need to be filled out by the owner. The dogs will work briefly with the show director, Annie and three other cast members who will be working with the dog during the production.
The dog cast as Sandy will be required to be at the Kroc Community Theater for all 12 performances, Nov. 3-12, and dress rehearsal week, Oct. 29-Nov.2. Details will be available for owners at the auditions.
