BONNERS FERRY — Cheerleading is a year-long sport. The girls cheer for football games, basketball games, the Dig Pink volleyball game, wrestling, and they compete in competition in March.
This year’s cheerleading squad has 14 members.
The Varsity cheerleaders include: senior Bailey Jenkins, senior Micheala Worley, senior Hannah Sims, senior Abby Eliassen, senior Rayan Naylor, senior Haley Wenk, sophomore Katie Summerfield, and sophomore Cassidy Chaffin.
The Junior Varsity members include: sophomore Lillian Goad, sophomore Nadia Fleck, freshman Ayla Worley, freshman Adrianne Brown, freshman Alisa Hannaman, and freshman Kaylee Worley.
The squad has been hard at work since their camp held by Universal Cheer Association back in July.
Coach Sarah Jenkins said “I am looking forward to what this season brings. This team works wonderful together, and I cannot wait to see what they accomplish together.”
The girls have been preparing for their year-long season by practicing cheers, dances, and stunts for sports games, school pep rallies, and for creating routines for upcoming competitions in the winter.
“My favorite thing from this season so far is how close this team is and how hard we have worked,” senior Micheala Worley said. “It really makes me proud to say that this is my team.”
The team performed one of their routines at half time this past Friday at the homecoming game.
