WASHINGTON D.C. — Got a legislative question you need answered or need help dealing with a federal agency? Or maybe you are a student who is thinking about attending a U.S. service academy. If so, you’re in luck, as Fourth Congressional District Rep. Dan Newhouse, R-Yakima, will be holding mobile office hours and service academy information nights in Grant and Adams counties this month.

Mobile office hours are hosted by Newhouse’s staff and are designed to help Fourth District residents receive assistance with questions and/or problems with federal agencies. Local mobile office hours, which people do not need an appointment to attend, in Grant and Adams counties will be held in the following locations:

Ephrata: Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ephrata City Council Chambers, 121 Alder St. SW.

Quincy: Oct. 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Quincy Public Library, 208 Central Ave.

Ritzville: Oct. 27 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Ritzville City Hall, 201 E. Main Ave.

Service academy nights are for students who aspire to attend the U.S. Military Academy, the U.S. Naval Academy, the U.S. Air Force Academy or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy. Each congressional representative has the power to nominate a limited number of students to attend one of those institutions.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with service academy representatives and learn about the nomination process. The only information night in the Columbia Basin will be held on Oct. 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the ATEC Building at Big Bend Community College, 7662 Chanute St. NE.
