Traffic changes will affect Seltice/Atlas motorists

The city of Coeur d’Alene announced Atlas Road will be closed at Seltice Way from Tuesday, Oct. 10 through Friday, Oct. 13 as the Seltice Way revitalization contractor removes the existing asphalt and begins construction of the new road.
Local traffic will be permitted along Atlas Road to Kathleen Avenue.
The city is encouraging motorists to find alternate routes of travel next week.
“When reopened, Atlas Road will be a gravel surface at this location until paving work begins for the Seltice Way project, so we urge motorists to drive carefully,” said a news release. “Please bear with us during this construction project as we work to efficiently complete this project.”
Another change along Seltice Way will affect motorists this weekend.
Seltice Way will be reduced Saturday, Oct. 7 to alternating one-way traffic near the Huetter Road intersection for utility installation work.
Installation of water and sewer infrastructure in this area is expected to begin at 7 a.m. and could last a full day. Motorists are encouraged to modify commutes accordingly.
“This utility work is very close to the new roadway and the traveling public and it’s important to maintain safety for motorists and construction crews,” said a city news release issued Friday.
The $5.44 million project will provide for a new streetscape, roundabouts at Grand Mill Lane/Idewild Loop and Atlas Road, bike lanes, shared-use paths as well as upgraded water and wastewater utilities between Huetter Road and Northwest Boulevard. The revitalization work is projected to last into the first quarter of 2018 and work is weather dependent.
