COEUR d’ALENE — Rickie Colosimo’s breakaway goal in the 98th minute led the third-seeded Post Falls Trojans past the second seed Coeur d’Alene Vikings 3-2 in double overtime in the first round of the 5A Region 1 tournament Saturday.
Post Falls (4-7-3) travels to top-seeded Lake City in the championship match on Tuesday.
Madi Lasher scored in the 10th minute and Colosimo scored in the 26th minute as Post Falls built a 2-0 lead
“It was a really tough first half for us,” Coeur d’Alene coach Andy Vredenburg said. “We did not show up at all.”
Kylie Hanson cut the deficit to 2-1 in the 40th minute for Coeur d’Alene, which tied it at 2 on a goal by Maddie Morris in the 69th minute.
“We got some momentum at the end of the first half and definitely had our opportunities,” Vredenburg said. “But we just couldn’t get it in the back of the net. Hats off to Post Falls, they dug in. They didn’t get many opportunities, but when they did, they took advantage. We made a couple of mistakes and they capatalized on them.”

“It’s nice to get a scoreline that has five different goal scorers on it,” said Lake City coach Matt Ruchti, whose team also had goals from Payton Barber and Courtney Cydell. “We limited them to two shots and I thought it was a great overall game for us.
