Knaack sparks Cardinal women to shutout of Blue Mountain

COEUR d’ALENE — Katey Knaack scored on a breakaway late in the first half to open the scoring, and North Idaho College went on to beat the Blue Mountain Timberwolves of Pendleton, Ore., 3-0 in Northwest Athletic Conference play at Eisenwinter Field on Saturday.

Ellory Ferris capped the scoring for NIC (9-4, 7-2 NWAC), when Natalie Goetz sent a cross into the box from the right of the penalty area, and Ferris “roofed” her volley.

Blue Mountain dipped to 0-11, 0-9.

NIC plays host to Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.

COEUR d’ALENE — Conner Kinnune scored on an assist from Cade Roske in the second minute, and the Cardinals went on to beat the Timberwolves in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Eisenwinter Field.

After an own goal, Roske capped the scoring in the 49th minute for NIC (4-6-2, 3-3-2 NWAC), which hosts Wenatchee Valley on Wednesday.

“We had a lot of chances in the first half and got comfortable,” NIC coach Ken Thompson said. “In the second half, we got those early goals and changed things up a bit. It was our sixth match in eight days and we had a different group on the field for most of the second half.”

Blue Mountain is 1-9, 1-7.

COEUR d’ALENE — Haylee Templeton had 36 assists and 10 digs for the Cardinals in a 25-17, 25-23, 25-10 win over the Knights in a Northwest Athletic Conference match at Christianson Gym.

Hailee Etter had nine kills and four digs, Halle Hess eight kills and 13 digs and Rachel Leshikar 24 digs for NIC (18-5, 8-0 NWAC), which faces Big Bend on Wednesday in Moses Lake.

Wenatchee Valley is 11-10, 3-5.
