MOSES LAKE — A Quincy man could be facing federal drug charges after a traffic stop in Moses Lake turned up almost 8 pounds of heroin and methamphetamine in his vehicle.
About 12:45 a.m. Thursday morning an officer pulled over Jose Miranda Jimenez, 27, of Quincy, for a traffic violation in the 1000 block of East Broadway Avenue. Miranda Jimenez was reportedly uncooperative and the officer spotted evidence of “drug possession and consumption” inside of the vehicle, according to MLPD Capt. Mike Williams.
Miranda Jimenez reportedly resisted police when he was told to exit his vehicle and a short scuffle ensued, after which the suspect was taken into custody. Miranda Jimenez was found to be in possession of 2.7 ounces of heroin, which was reportedly stuffed inside of a condom.
A warranted search of the vehicle turned up over 3 pounds of meth and 4.7 pounds of heroin, which were also stuffed into condoms. In addition, police recovered scales, packaging materials and receipts from a large international money transfer. Miranda Jimenez was booked into the Grant County Jail for possession of heroin and possession of meth with intent to deliver and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
Jimenez will also face federal immigration charges and possible federal drug charges.
