Oct. 10, 1967 — SENIOR HIGH NEWS

Year Book Drive — The subscription drive for Monticola, the Senior High yearbook, has begun, announced Mrs. Ruby Phelps, Monticola advisor. Students may make a down payment of $2.06, or pay the full price of $4.12, Mrs. Phelps said.

Pep Band – According to music director Russ Whalen, the pep band is practicing new numbers to play at home and out-of-town football games.

PFC. BELWOOD ENJOYED LEAVE

Pfc. Ernest C. Belwood Jr. left Sunday for Ft. Sill, Okla., after spending a 30-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Belwood, Laclede. During his leave, Belwood’s parents hosted several gatherings in his honor at their lot off Campbell’s Point. Ernie’s sisters and their families and his grandmother, Mrs. Nora Graves, and Miss Diane Payne went to Spokane to see him off on the plane. He will leave soon for Vietnam. He is with a Chinook helicopter outfit.

MISS VAN STONE ON FASHION BOARD

Miss Annie Van Stone, Hope, will represent her living group in the college fashion board of Roahn’s Clothing Store in downtown Moscow. A resident of Houston hall, she will advise Roahn’s management about styles popular with the college set and will model for fashion shows.

Oct. 10, 1917 — REWARD FOR DESERTERS

The government offers $50 for the delivery at the nearest army post or camp of a military deserter. A person failing to report to his local board for military service at the time specified in his order to report is a deserter. In cases where delinquency was willful such deserters will be prosecuted before court martial as deserters.

REQUIRES THIRTEEN-FOOT DAM

The committee in charge of the proposed damming of Sand creek finished its survey and finds that to create a sufficient log pond for the match company’s sawmill at the site of the old brickyard, a 13-foot dam will be necessary, if erected in the downtown district. •••

COLD STORAGE AT CREAMERY

The Pend d’Oreille Creamery company is erecting a large addition to its plant in this city which will be used as a cold storage for butter and ice cream. The freezer is to be an ammonia, seven ton compressor, and the plant will be capable of caring for 50,000 pounds of butter in addition to the usual run of ice cream business.

TO OPEN BOAT FACTORY AT HOPE

G.A. Troppman, who has engaged in boat making in a small way near the city dock this season, has sold his shop to W.L. Vestal, and is moving to Hope to open the Kremkau boat factory and engage in the business on a larger scale.
