The Mineral County Medical Foundation hosted their 35th Annual Golf Tournament at the Trestle Creek Golf Course on Sept. 30. There were 11 teams that participated in the Foundation’s largest fundraiser, with players from Mineral County and Missoula.

Four teams placed, with Zip Beverage coming in first; Trailwest Bank, second; Monida Healthcare third and Superior Traffic Services tied with Bates team for fourth place. The fundraiser brings in between $10,000 and $12,000 said Foundation President, Roger Brown.

The majority of the funds raised are used for projects and programs for Mineral Community Hospital. For the past 10 years the Foundation has raised over $250,000 for things like building upkeep, equipment, and other needs for both the hospital and the long-term care facility.

“The Foundation supports the needs that are beyond the hospital’s budget,” said Brown. “Departments can put in a request for what they need and then the board approves the expense. Most of the requests do get funded.”

In addition to the winning teams, players received prizes for various contest including shots that were “closest to the hole” and “closest to a tree.” Teams paid $200 and businesses paid $500 to sponsor a hole and $250 to sponsor a fairway and $100 to sponsor a golf cart.
