YAKIMA — Moses Lake slowpitch swept an important doubleheader with West Valley.

The Chiefs committed no errors in the first game and won 16-0 in four innings. Moses Lake completed the sweep with a five-inning 18-4 win in Game 2.

“We’re definitely very improved,” head coach Mike Hofheins said.

Brooke Richardson and MaryBeth Morse each recorded a double and triple in the doubleheader. Katelyn Poole was 4-for-5 with four runs scored and Hadleigh Cranston had six hits.

Moses Lake moved into second place in the Columbia Basin Big Nine and will travel to play undefeated league leader Wenatchee on Thursday.

Girls soccer

Ephrata 3, Grandview 0

GRANDVIEW — Mya Spencer notched a hat trick and Ephrata shut out Grandview 3-0.

Spencer put the Tigers up 1-0 in the third minute, scoring off an assist from Katelyn Ostrowski.

Spencer scored twice more in the first half; both goals were assisted by Bekah Schmuck.

Toppenish 3, Quincy 2

TOPPENISH — Quincy could not score the equalizer in a 3-2 loss to Toppenish.

After a 1-1 tie at halftime, Toppenish scored twice in the second half. Quincy got one goal back with about 10 minutes to play, but could not even the game to force overtime.

Hailey McKee scored the Jacks’ first-half goal. Brianna Pedregon scored in the second half.

Kiona-Benton 4, Warden 1

BENTON CITY — Warden was unable to penetrate Kiona-Benton’s stacked defense and lost 4-1.

Much like the first meeting, Kiona-Benton fed balls to speedy forward Ariel Loften who scored four goals.

“As this is the third team that’s played us like this we are going to have to adjust and come up with a way to spread the defense and force them to make a mistake,” head coach Hannah Mohs said. “The girls are up to the challenge, but it’ll take real focus and practice.”

Loften scored twice in the first half and added two more early in the second half. Bailey Whitney scored on a penalty kick in the 70th minute for Warden’s lone goal.

Volleyball

Prosser 3, Quincy 0

QUINCY — Quincy competed well, but ultimately lost to Prosser 25-20, 25-15, 25-22.

“I think Prosser is the class of the league,” head coach Dean Pratt.

Morgan Kleyn and Ashlyn Rosenberger had nine and five kills, respectively.

Quincy hosts rival Ephrata, 7 p.m., Thursday for its breast cancer awareness match.

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Inchelium 0

INCHELIUM — Almira/Coulee-Hartline stayed undefeated, sweeping Inchelium 25-13, 25-13, 25-19.

Ashley Mitchell led the Warriors with 14 kills and two blocks. Makenna Oliver had 16 assists to go three aces.

Defensively, Tiffany Boutain had four digs for ACH.

Liberty 3, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 1

SPANGLE — Liberty handed Lind-Ritzville/Sprague its first league loss in four sets 16-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-20.
