Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 8 years, 2 months AGO
A boy who attends Lake City High School is in police custody at the county Juvenile Detention Center, accused of sending threatening messages to other students at the school.
Another suspect, also a juvenile, is facing disciplinary action through the school district. Criminal charges were not applicable in that case, said Coeur d’Alene Police Detective Jared Reneau, in a news release.
The police department investigated several reports of threatening incidents involving Lake City High students since Friday, Oct. 6.
The first incident, involving the juvenile who was not arrested, involved a photograph that was perceived as a threat. The photograph was posted to Snapchat with derogatory comments directed toward Lake City High School students.
The second incident, reported on Sunday, Oct. 8, involved an anonymous threatening message posted to a separate social media app. The threat was directed toward a female student and Lake City High School. Detectives are continuing to follow up with leads related to this incident.
The third incident, Wednesday, Oct. 11, involved an anonymous threatening message and a separate picture on Thursday morning with a threatening caption.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned the last two messages were posted by the same suspect who was arrested. The student is facing four misdemeanor counts of using the telephone to terrify, threaten or harass.
