Owenses celebrate golden anniversary

Larry and Mary Owens of Sagle are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Saturday, Oct. 14, 2017. They were married in 1967 in Idaho Falls, where they were both born.

Larry and Mary met at Holy Rosary Catholic School when he was in the second grade and she was in the first grade. They started dating when Larry was a sophomore and Mary was a freshman in high school. They and their 3 1/2 children moved to Sandpoint in 1978.

Larry retired out of the Carpenters Union in 2010. Mary was a fantastic stay-at-home mom until all of the kids entered elementary school; she then worked for Encoder Products, Inc., for 10 years and then was well known for her concrete flowers at the farmers market and many craft shows.

Larry and Mary had four children: Tony (Elsa) of Robstown, Texas, Chris of Coeur d’Alene, Rose of Sandpoint, and Ethan of Kellogg. Lary’s mother, Bernice, also lives in Sandpoint. The couple also have three grandchilren, Adrian, Christopher, and Aiden.
