ROYAL CITY — A Royal City man is facing charges for allegedly pointing a gun at his sister’s boyfriend and several other people.

Grant County prosecutors charged Carlos Garcia Sanchez, 38, of Royal City, in Grant County Superior Court with two counts of second-degree assault.

On Oct. 1, the Royal City Police Department received a report of a weapons offense in the 400 block of Sage Lane. A woman told police her brother, Garcia Sanchez, pointed a gun at her boyfriend’s head and several other people, according to court documents.

Police contacted the caller who advised Garcia Sanchez got into an argument with her boyfriend and at some point in the argument Garcia Sanchez brandished a gun. The woman said her other brother joined in and pushed her boyfriend, who allegedly asked Garcia Sanchez what he was going to do.

“Then Carlos pulled out a black pistol and held it to (the victim’s) forehead. He said ‘I’m going to kill you,’” wrote an officer.

Garcia Sanchez’ father allegedly stepped in and attempted to grab the pistol and a struggle ensued. Garcia Sanchez was able to get the pistol back and pointed the gun at least four other people, all of whom were able to get into a car and leave the area. Garcia Sanchez left the area as well and was later located by police at a residence in the 400 block of Desert Lane.

Garcia Sanchez was detained at the residence and positively identified by his sister and her boyfriend. Garcia Sanchez’s wife gave police permission to search his truck, which is registered in her name. Police reportedly located a black shoulder holster for a pistol in the truck. In addition, officers found several hollow point .380 live rounds in a duffel bag. Officers were unable to recover the gun in question and turned the truck back over to Garcia Sanchez’s wife.
