Charlie was born on Jan. 31, 1940, in Teaneck, N.J. Charlie graduated from Leonia High School in New Jersey in 1957. He attended the State University of New York at Delhi and received a degree of associates in applied science major in agriculture. He spent a short time in the U.S. Army Reserves after college.

On March 24, 1964, he married the love of his life Teresa Marcheso in Kinnelon, N.J. They lived in New Jersey and New York, having six of their seven daughters there. Charlie and Teresa had a dream of moving out west. That opportunity came in 1977, when on the advice of a close friend, the family packed up and moved to the small town of Laclede, Idaho, sight unseen. The family instantly loved this area and many Sundays were spent packing up the girls and taking drives and hikes, enjoying our beautiful area.

Charlie began working for Litehouse in the spring 1986. He stayed with the company until his retirement in September 2014.

Charlie was known as an easy-going, gentle soul with an enthusiastic sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Charlie had the best stories to share about his youth with all those who loved him. He also enjoyed fishing, nature, and taking care of the wildlife on his property. He had a passion for gardening and antiques. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his seven daughters, Cathy (and Rick) Klontz;,Suzy (and Bob) VanDenBerg, Andrea (and Brian) Ward, Dina (and Jody) Brown, Kristi (and Mike) Tomt, Nancy Williams, and Lori (and Dustin) Reichart, all of Sandpoint, Idaho. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one sister, Betty Anne Saviello, of New Jersey.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Agnes; his sister, Pat Porter; and his wife, Teresa.

The rosary/vigil service will be conducted at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, 2017.
