Crossroads banquet set for Saturday

MOSES LAKE — The Crossroads Pregnancy Resource Center will hold its annual fundraising banquet Saturday at the Grant County Fairgrounds. The banquet starts at 6 p.m. with dinner served at 6:30 p.m. in the 4-H building (Building No. 17) at the Grant County Fairgrounds.
“This is our big fundraiser for Moses Lake,” said Christy Youngers of Crossroads. Crossroads has been hosting a banquet for more than a decade.
“We operate strictly off the donations from our community,” she said.
Ryan Bomberger will be the guest speaker. Bomberger is director of the Radiance Foundation and is a broadcast media designer and producer, author and public speaker, from Virginia Beach, Va.
Crossroads provides a range of services for women, both women who are pregnant and those who might be pregnant, Youngers said. “We’re here to support women.”
All services are free.
The center offers pregnancy tests, including ultrasound, parenting classes for moms and dads, and a labor and delivery class. There are classes for first-time moms and dads, separate support (and classes) for dads, and support for moms who need extra help, whether or not it’s their first child.
There are support services for moms with postpartum depression, and for women post-abortion.
Crossroads offers infant CPR and first aid classes for parents, she said. The organization also provides some baby clothes and diapers for parents in need. Each fall moms are invited to “Mommy and Baby Day Out,” a picnic for moms and kids, and a Christmas photo shoot for mothers and children.
As a Christian organization, it offers prayers and spiritual support as well, she said.
The goal is to give women who come to Crossroads all the information they need to make a decision about pregnancy, she said. In many cases, “we never know what their decision is." The goal is to help women, whatever their circumstances. “We’re there to support them (women who come to Crossroads) no matter what their decision is.”

Othello approves $29M budget for 2026
OTHELLO — The city of Othello is projected to spend about $10.1 million from its general fund in 2026, the biggest part of a $29 million overall budget. Council members approved the 2026 budget earlier this month, and city Finance Director Spencer Williams said budget planning started in late summer.

OTHELLO — Outgoing Othello City Council members were recognized at the last meeting of the year Monday. “It’s been a huge honor in my life, the biggest honor I could ever think of, serving with every single person up here on this council, with past council members and with the staff of the city,” said council member Corey Everett. “We have a phenomenal staff in this city. Not only department heads – it’s everybody. I feel very honored to work with everybody here.”
