Delaney wins LeGrizz ultra

Jason Delaney of Polson was the overall winner in the LeGrizz 50-mile ultramarathon in Polebridge Saturday.

Delaney clocked a 6:28:13.95 in the win.

Debbie Gibson of Helena was the women’s winner, with a time of 7:36:50.34.

Kat Gebauer of Whitefish took ninth with a 10:19:38.34; Somer Treat of West Glacier was 11th with a 10:32:32.78 and Tiffany Tyree of Martin City was 12th with a 10:32:33.51 on the cold and rainy course. Jeff Metsky of Whitefish was the lone local runner for the men. He took 16th with a time of 10:21:55.29.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
