'Young Frankenstein' opens Friday

Aspire Community Theatre will present the musical "Young Frankenstein" beginning at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Salvation Army Kroc Community Theatre.

All of the spirited and hilarious characters from the original story are intact in this unconventional telling of the classic horror story. It's based on the 1974 comedy film of the same name written by comedic genius Mel Brooks and the late Gene Wilder, who starred in the original as Frederick Frankenstein.

Audiences will enjoy the talents of 24 area performers who will act, sing and dance to songs such as "Puttin' On the Ritz," "He Vas My Boyfriend," "Transylvania Mania" and more.

The show, which opens Aspire's 2017-18 season, runs through Oct. 28. This production may not be suitable for young audiences and has a suggested rating of PG-13.

Tickets are $13-$17 and can be purchased online or by visiting the box office two hours prior to performances. The Kroc Center is located at 1765 W. Golf Course Road.
