Delane ‘Del’ R. Sorbel, 82
Delane ”Del” R. Sorbel passed away peacefully on Oct. 12, 2017, at the age of 82. He was born to Alvin and Kay Sorbel in Devils Lake, N.D. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Lee Sorbel; his daughters, Delraya (Rich) Anstine and Tammy (Larry) Baker; his first wife, Marlene Evenson; brothers, Jerry Sorbel and Randy Sorbel. He also leaves behind grandchildren, Christie (Mike) Landano, Jeff (Kristy) Anstine, Angela Baker, Chris Baker; great-grandchildren, Braden, Brock, Bryce, Mercadies, Troy, Marcus, Rylan, Charli; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He attended Coeur d’Alene High School and loved to go to as many of their reunions as he could, especially at the Iron Horse Restaurant. He worked at Potlatch Lumber Mill for most of his working career and enjoyed many reunion breakfasts with his former co-workers at G.W. Hunters in Post Falls, Idaho.
Throughout his early years, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and boating. He also was an excellent craftsman. He loved working with wood and built many things for his beautiful yard in Hayden, Idaho, where he and Lee enjoyed an abundance of wildlife.
During his later years, he loved going to Rustler’s Roost Restaurant in Hayden, where as he always said, “everybody knows your name!” They would see him coming and have his favorite lunch, a fried egg sandwich and Bud Light, ready — often, before he sat down.
He suffered from Alzheimer’s in his last years, and enjoyed his last months at Wellspring Meadows in Hayden, where he was doted over and cared for by the wonderful staff there.
A service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2017, at Yates Funeral Home — Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at http://www.alz.org.
