Eldon Adkison of Libby pleaded not guilty to charges of criminal possession of dangerous drugs, a felony, criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and driving while suspended, a misdemeanor, on Monday, Oct. 17, in Montana 19th Judicial District Court in Libby.

Adkison was arrested Sept. 27 after Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brad Dodson recognized him driving a Ford pickup. Dodson knew Adkison was being supervised by Officer Darrel Vanderhoef of Montana State Adult Probation and Parole.

Vanderhoef and Dodson returned to Adkison’s residence and saw him about to enter the driver’s side of the Ford pickup Dodson had previously seen him driving. A routine check showed Adkison’s driver’s license to be suspended in Montana.

Adkison was arrested for a probation violation and Vanderhoef and Dodson searched his vehicle. Inside the truck they found a glass bubble pipe, commonly used for smoking dangerous drugs, usually methamphetamine. The pipe contained a substance that looked like methamphetamine, which a field test by Deputy Ben Fisher tested presumptively positive as the substance.

Adkison remains held in the Lincoln County jail on $10,000 bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 13.
