Anthony Andrew Beaver of Vadar, Washington on Oct. 17 pleaded not guilty in 19th Judicial District Court in Libby to a felony charge of criminal possession of dangerous drugs with intent to distribute.

Beaver was arrested Sept. 27. On that day Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officer Deputy Brad Dodson pulled over a Chevy Tahoe, registered to Beaver, that was leaving the Holiday Motel in Troy. Dodson suspected that the driver, Tamar Adamson, had a suspended driver’s license.

During the traffic stop, Dodson became suspicious that Adamson had dangerous drugs with her after she became nervous and told Dodson she had used drugs in the week prior. Adamson said she knew she was not supposed to be driving. On the seat her phone was ringing, and Dodson could see that Adamson was receiving phone calls from a known drug user in Libby.

Lincoln County Sheriff’s Detective Nate Scofield and Troy Police Sgt. Henry Roy contacted Beaver at the motel in a room registered to James Cosgriff. They found approximately 10 grams of methamphetamine on a chair where Beaver was sitting. Beaver told the officers that Cosgriff had just left for Libby. After a drug-detecting K9 unit alerted to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle, Adamson and Beaver were both detained.

Dodson received a search warrant from 19th Judicial District Court to search for dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia in the hotel room and the Chevy Tahoe. During the search he found in the motel room a digital scale, methamphetamine residue on the bedding, a glass bubble pipe, dirty syringes, other paraphernalia, and a baggie containing approximately 3.5 grams of methamphetamine.

The search of the Chevy Tahoe revealed two bags of methamphetamine — one weighing approximately 12 grams and the other weighing 3.8 grams — and more syringes. The vehicle appeared to be registered to Beaver.

Beaver has been released from custody and his next court appearance is scheduled for Nov. 13, 2017.
