COEUR d’ALENE — Lewiston quarterback Tyson Wallace threw for 418 yards and six touchdowns, Lake City turned the ball over three times and the host Timberwolves lost 54-21 in the season finale for both schools on Friday.

“We couldn’t sustain drives. The penalties, the turnovers, giving up big plays — I don’t care who you play, you can’t win football games when you make those mistakes,” Lake City coach Bryce Erickson said.

T-Wolves running back Grant Clark finished his senior season with 136 yards on 21 carries, gaining all the yards on a 61-yard scoring drive to pull Lake City within 21-7 early in the second quarter.

Fullback Zane Lettau finished the scoring by running over several Lewiston defenders on a 49-yard TD run late in the fourth quarter.

But in between, Wallace repeatedly found Colt Jacobs and Troy Hanes for big plays. The Bengals (5-4, 1-2 5A IEL) scored the game’s first 21 points, racked up 638 total yards, and only punted once, at the end of the third quarter.

The game also included plenty of flags and whistles, including eight personal foul penalties between the teams. Lewiston had 12 penalties for 113 yards and Lake City had 9 for 107, with two Timberwolves ejected in the first half.

Senior Brayden Pollow led Lake City in tackles, including three tackles for loss, while Todd Callaghan (interception) and Armando Lopez (fumble recovery) had takeaways for the T-Wolves (2-6, 0-3).

“I feel bad for our seniors ending their season like this ... but they led this team back after we got knocked on our butts by Hillcrest,” Erickson said “They had a good attitude and worked hard to prepare for games and hopefully our younger players learned from their example.”
