Absentee and early voting deadlines are approaching for Nov. 7 election

Two important deadlines are approaching for voters in the Nov. 7 election.

- Voters who want absentee ballots mailed to them need to submit their requests by 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27.

The form can be returned to the county elections office by mail, fax or email. Kootenai County is paying the postage for mailed absentee ballots.

- Voters who want to vote early in person need to visit the Kootenai County Elections Office, 2808 N. Third St., Coeur d’Alene, by Friday, Nov. 3.

The elections office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Registered voters should bring a photo ID with them to cast their ballots. Voters who have moved or changed names must re-register.

Those wishing to register may do so at the elections office. Photo ID and proof of residency must be presented by anyone registering to vote. Proof of residency examples include a utility bill or auto insurance certificate with the voter’s current residence address listed and dated at least 30 days prior to the individual’s voting date.
