Richard Lee Bullard, 92

Richard Lee Bullard, a very independent 92 year old, passed away Oct. 16, 2017 at Kootenai Hospital, after a short battle with three different cancers.

Richard was born on Jan. 10, 1925, the son of Richard and Genevieve Bullard, in Yuma, Colo.

Born during the Depression, he developed a good work ethic that he carried throughout his life. Joining the Navy during the war he became an Aviation Radio Technician. During training in Georgia he met his future wife, Thelma Barrett, who was training to be a nurse. They married on Jan. 16, 1946. After which they settled in California, where soon they had a son, Barry Lee (currently in Colorado) and a daughter, Patricia Gail (deceased).

Richard spent most of his career working for Northrop in the same field as his training from the Navy. In his later years he and his wife enjoyed extensive travel to both sides of the oceans until Richard’s retirement in the mid 1970s.

Retirement led them to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, where Richard spent his time helping his parish, Immaculate Conception Church in Post Falls, and helping settle the Dominican Sisters in Post Falls.

Richard was preceded in death by his lifelong wife, Thelma, on Aug 4, 2014, and his daughter Patricia Gail on July 23, 2015. He is survived by his son, Barry, brother, Bill, and four grandchildren.

Richard will have a Rosary at 5:30 p.m. on Monday Oct. 23 at Immaculate Conception Church with his Funeral Mass at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday Oct. 24. Richard will be interned next to his wife, Thelma, at Evergreen Cemetery in Post Falls.
