Betty Mae Randall, 91

Betty Mae Randall, age 91, of Post Falls, Idaho, entered into the loving arms of her heavenly Father on Oct. 24, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born May 17, 1926 in Klamath Falls, Ore. to Nicholas and Gladys (Haskins) Mackenstadt. She grew up in Klamath Falls, where she attended school.

During World War II she worked for the railroad and Barney’s Burgers where she met her first husband, Granvel Prince. They moved to St. Maries, Idaho in 1947 and in 1950 she was widowed with four small children. She met and married the love of her life, Owen, in 1952. Owen adopted all four children and together they added another child to their loving family.

In 1958 the family moved to Post Falls, Idaho. Betty worked as a dental assistant, waitress and retired as a cook from the Coeur d’Alene School District. She taught decorative painting and was known as the “Queen” of tole painting. Through the years she won many awards for her artwork in various mediums. She was a past member of the Coeur d’Alene Art Association and was instrumental in helping start Art on the Green.

Mom and Dad were active in starting the Post Falls Little League Program. She enjoyed cooking and loved having friends and family over for her delicious meals. She also enjoyed gardening, reading, sewing, knitting and crocheting. Many friends and family hold dear the homemade treasures created by her hands. Mom was sweet, kind and generous and will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen; son-in-law Frank Weaver; her parents; grandparents, Maude and William Smith (who raised her) and seven of her 11 siblings. She is survived by her daughters, Diane Weaver, Wendy (Randy) Medlock, Jan (Chet) Lindquist; and sons, Tom (Janet) Randall and Jerry Randall; along with 26 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A celebration of her life will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017, at Real Life Ministries, 1860 N. Cecil Road, Post Falls, Idaho. A reception will follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Betty’s memory can be made to the Schneidmiller Hospice House, 2290 W. Prairie Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815.
