SANDPOINT — A Bonner County man was arrested last week for allegedly threatening two people with a pistol during a confrontation southeast of Oldtown.
Brandon Scott Cramer and is charged with two counts of felony assault and two misdemeanor counts of battery. Cramer also faces a sentencing enhancement for using a deadly weapon during the commission of a crime.
Cramer, 32, is accused of attacking a man and a woman outside a trailer off Dry Creek Road on Tuesday, Oct. 17. The alleged victims told Bonner County sheriff’s deputies that Cramer arrived at the home and they heard the slide of a pistol being racked into firing position as he approached. The woman said Cramer pressed the muzzle of the pistol to the man’s head before punching him.
Cramer then turned his attention to the female and demanded she tell him where his brother is, a probable cause affidavit said.
The woman told investigators that she was grabbed by the throat, thrown into a fence and lifted back up by her throat, the affidavit said. Cramer then pressed the pistol to her head and threatened to shoot her, too, according to the affidavit.
Cramer left the scene prior to the arrival of law enforcement. He was taken into custody the day after the incident, although it’s not clear in court documents if he was arrested or turned himself in.
Cramer made an initial appearance in Bonner County Magistrate Court on Monday. Judge Tera Harden appointed a public defender to represent him and ordered him held lieu of $30,000 bail, court records show. The court also entered an order forbidding Cramer from having any form of contact with the alleged victims while the case is pending.
A preliminary hearing in the case is set for Nov. 1.
Aggravated assault is punishable by up to five years in prison. However, the sentencing enhancement would add another 15 years to the term if Cramer is found guilty of the underlying offense.
