Prep roundup: Moses Lake slowpitch wins inaugural CBBN tournament

YAKIMA — Moses Lake slowpitch won the inaugural Columbia Basin Big Nine league tournament.
The Chiefs beat West Valley in the semifinals 15-0 in four innings and edged No. 1 seed Wenatchee 3-2 in the championship game.
The Chiefs committed no errors in either game.
“It was a defensive gem,” head coach Mike Hofheins said.
Michelle Turner totaled five hits and scored three runs against the Rams. MaryBeth Morse scored twice and Brooke Richardson hit a three-run homer in the semifinals.
Against Wenatchee, Moses Lake scored twice in the first inning. Wenatchee tied the game with two runs in the second inning.
Moses Lake scored the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly ball in the fourth.
Richardson and Hadleigh Cranston drove in one run each.
Girls soccer
Warden 3, Royal 2
WARDEN — Warden overcame a strong defensive gameplan from Royal and won 3-2.
Aubree Skone had one goal and two assists for the Cougars who finished second in the South Central Athletic Conference East.
“It was a very slow paced game and the girls kept getting frustrated with trying to get through so many defenders,” head coach Hannah Mohs said.
Royal took an early 1-0 lead when Denisse Arroyo buried a penalty kick. Skone answered two minutes later to even the game with an 18-yard strike.
Aaliyah Escamilla finished one of two assists from Skone to put the Cougars ahead in the 29th minute.
Royal’s Noelia Juarez tied the game in the 48th minute. Skone assisted Grace Richins for the go-ahead goal in the 65th minute.
Warden hosts Naches Valley in the first round of districts, 11 a.m., Saturday.
Volleyball
Soap Lake 3, Lake Roosevelt 1
SOAP LAKE — Soap Lake sewed up the North’s No. 3 seed in a four-set win over Lake Roosevelt 25-15, 25-21, 16-25, 26-24.
The Eagles had a balanced attack with Eryn Allen, Makenna Johnson, Taylor Harvill and Tracie Delgado recorded five kills each. Delgado added 15 assists, 15 digs and 12 aces.
Sierra Janikowski and Julian Hernandez had three and four kills, respectively.
Almira/Coulee-Hartline 3, Odessa 0
ODESSA — Almira/Coulee-Hartline improved to 15-0 with a sweep of Odessa 25-17, 25-18, 25-7.
Ashley Mitchell led the Warriors with nine kills and two blocks.
Makenna Oliver totaled 15 assists.
Lind-Ritzville/ Sprague 3, Liberty 1
RITZVILLE — Lacey Miller totaled 38 assists, 12 digs and three aces and Lind-Ritzville/Sprague outlasted Liberty 25-20, 24-26, 25-23, 26-24.
Sjerra Kiel had a team-high 13 kills.
Grandview 3, Quincy 2
GRANDVIEW — Quincy fell just short of the district playoffs with a five-set loss to Grandview 18-25, 25-14, 25-17, 18-25, 15-12.
Morgan Kleyn and Ashlyn Rosenberger had 13 and 12 kills, respectively.
Kiona-Benton 3, Warden 0
BENTON CITY — Warden was swept by first-place Kiona-Benton 25-8, 25-8, 25-10.
Warden finished the regular season 4-10 in the South Central Athletic Conference East.
Connell 3, Wahluke 0
CONNELL — Connell beat Wahluke in three sets 25-10, 25-12, 25-8.
Connell finished tied with Kiona-Benton for first place in the SCAC East at 13-1.
Wahluke ended the year 3-11 in league play.
River View 3, Royal 0
KENNEWICK — Royal ended its season with a loss at River View 25-19, 25-22, 25-9.
