What prompted you to seek election to this position?

I believe that it is everyone’s responsibility to be an active part of their city government, whether by attending meetings or holding office. I chose to run for Rathdrum City Council Seat 1 because I wanted to offer the citizens representation from the “every man/woman” perspective. I am not a career politician. I have not served on city planning boards, and although I have only lived in Rathdrum one year, I have lived in Kootenai County for 50 years.

What are three things you will work to change or improve if elected?

First, I will work to continue the focus on keeping Main Street lively with new business growth, support businesses that are there, and look to the future with expansion of Main Street west toward Greensferry Crossing. Second, I will seek to improve the communication between the citizens of Rathdrum and the city government by initiating more interaction such as breakfasts with the mayor/city council on a regular basis at local restaurants and venues, and evening interactions on a social setting. Third, I will work to increase the business growth development on the Highway 41 corridor so that it offers beautification while supporting new business growth that is attractive to Rathdrum.

What makes you the best candidate?

I believe that the best candidate for City Council Seat 1 is the candidate who will both listen and represent the citizens who elect them to office, and also stand up for the platform that they have been elected to uphold. With that in mind, I believe that I would be the best candidate.
