QUINCY — A man from Ephrata died in a two-vehicle collision near Quincy Friday afternoon.
About 3 p.m. Genaro Vasquez Visoso, 32, of Royal City, was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu south on Road K Northwest, east of Quincy, at a high speed when he reportedly failed to stop at the Road 9 Northwest intersection, according to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
Vasquez reportedly collided with a 2009 Honda Accord driven by Kelly D. Norris, 61, of Ephrata. The vehicles came to a rest in field near the intersection. Vasquez’s car reportedly caught fire, but passersby were able to extract him from the vehicle. He reportedly received critical injuries in the collision and was initially taken to Quincy Valley Medical Center for treatment, but was later transferred to an out-of-area hospital.
Norris died at the scene of the collision. His body was taken into the care of Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison, whose staff will be conducting an autopsy. The Grant County Sheriff’s Office Motor Traffic Unit is investigating the collision.
