A fire burning primarily in Canada has slipped into Glacier National Park and has burned about 80 acres in the upper North Fork east of the North Fork of the Flathead River.
The Elder Creek Fire has burned about 1,800 acres in Canada and is actively being fought.
The Adair Peak Fire is also burning in the North Fork near Logging Lake. It’s about 1,300 acres and in an old burn, so it’s not expected to grow much. Prevailing southwest winds should blow the fire back onto itself, fire managers are saying.
Flathead County has restricted access to local traffic only on the North Fork Road north of Trail Creek.
Glacier Park has put fire wraps and other protection in place at the remote Kishenehn Ranger Station.
The trail to the ranger station is closed as well.
