Mission valley cross country teams shine at Canal Bank Run

The Polson Pirates boys cross country team placed second in the Ronan cross country meet Friday afternoon.
The Pirates placed two of its runners in the top-10 including Quin Stewart and Landon Shipley. Stewart placed 7th recording a time of 18 minutes, 30 seconds and Shipley finished eighth with a time of 18 minutes, 35 seconds en route to finishing second place with a score of 57 points. The Frenchtown boys team won the event with a score of 37 points.
Not to be outdone the Ronan Chiefs finished third with a cumulative score of 62 points. Three Chiefs finished in the top-10 that allowed Ronan to have a successful cross country meet. James Normandeau finished fourth recording a time of 18 minutes, 11 seconds. Nate Dennis finished fifth with a time of 18 minutes, 19 seconds and Kiry Detwiler finished tenth with a time of 19 minutes, 15 seconds.
Mission High School runner Isaiah Nasewytewa PRed and finished the race with a time of 20 minutes, 19 seconds. Bulldogs’ runner Connor Burke finished with a time of 26 minutes, 54 seconds.
Bulldogs’ coach Chris Eichert said she was “pleased” with her team’s efforts.
“100 percent effort was given from the athletes,” Eichert said. “I am extremely proud of all of them.”
Frissell captures first at Canal Bank
Polson runner Bea Frissell captured first in the girls bracket with a time of 19 minutes, 29 seconds.
Other Polson girls runners that finished in the top-10 included Naima Crowl, who finished third with a time of 20 minutes, 42 seconds. Molly Sitter finished fourth with a time of 21 minutes, 11 seconds, Malia Seeley finished sixth with a time of of 21 minutes, 45 seconds and Gwen Seeley finished ninth with a time of 22 minutes, 58 seconds.
Polson’s Sadia Wahl finished 12th with a time of 23 minutes, 57 seconds. Nina Blackfoot also finished in the top-1o with a time of 24 minutes, 48 seconds.
Maidens’ runners Lindsey Brooks finished just outside of the top-10. Brooks finished 11th in the race recording a time of 23 minutes, 39 seconds.
Ronan runner Penni Weyant finished the race in 16th place recording a time of 24 minutes, 54 seconds.
For the Lady Bulldogs Karolyna Buck PRed and finished 17th recording a time of 25 minutes, 6 seconds. Yvonne Baty also PRed with a time of 25 minutes, 51 seconds and Amy Dillard finished with a time of 32 minutes, 25 seconds.
