Mixed bag for local high school teams

Cats and Tigers travel to Philipsburg for tournament

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats and St. Regis Tigers girl volleyball teams traveled to Philipsburg on August 26 to participate in a season opener tournament. Both teams made it out of the pool play and into the final tournament games. The Mountain Cats won against Seeley-Swan, 15 -11 and 17-15. However, they lost in the semifinal match against Darby, 15-11 and 15-7. The Tiger’s lost against Lincoln with two losses and a win with 7-15 in game one, 15-10, and 8-14 in the final match.

Earlier in the day the Cats won against Philipsburg in game one, 12-8 and then lost, 12-9 and won against Anaconda’s JV team, 12-8 and 12-8. They lost to Twin Bridges, 12-9 and 12-8 and to Darby, 12-2 and 12-8.

The Tigers won against Charlo 12-11 and 12-7 and they won over Gardner 12-8 and 12-3. They lost to Sheridan 11-12 and 8-11. They then came back with a win against Seeley 12-10 and 12-6.

Lady Tigers defeat Mullan, Idaho

St. Regis Lady Tigers defeated Mullan, Idaho on the road on Tuesday, Aug. 30 sweeping all three games, 29 to 9; 25 to 17 and 25 to 23. Emma Hill lead in Kills making 7 out of a team total of 22 and 12 Aces from the team’s 21. Justice Tate made 4 out of 5 Blocks; Baylee Pruitt led with 5 out of 12 Digs; and both Anna Sanford and Hill made 11 each out of 23 Assists.

Clark Fork defeats Valley Christian

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats traveled to Missoula and defeated Valley Christian on Thursday night, August 31 with 25-19, 25-13, 25-17.

Clark Fork: Kills 24 (Kenzie Mueller 7). Blocks 1 (Montanna Baughman 1). Digs 31 (Emmah Baughman 8). Assists 18 (Madison Mask 17). Aces 15 (Mueller 4, Kathryn Parkin 4).

Clark Fork defeats Victor on the road

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats defeated Victor on the road Friday evening, Sept.1 with 25-17, 23-25, 25-17, 25-17.

Charlo defeats St. Regis in Charlo

The Lady Tigers traveled to Charlo on Thursday, Aug. 31 and met defeat against Charlo 25-23, 25-15, 25-18.

St. Regis: Kills 21 (Anna Sanford 7). Blocks 4 (Emma Hill 2). Digs 30 (Baylee Pruitt 16). Assists 16 (Hill 10). Aces 7 (Hill 3, Chloe Cielke 3).

Football

St. Regis will field football team

The St. Regis Tigers managed to pull together a 7-man team with their season opener scheduled for Sept. 9 with an away game. Head Coach Jesse Allan said they would play every game on their schedule as long as they have six players. Going into the season it was questionable as to whether there would be a team due to lack of student participation.

Clark Fork Mountain Cats defeated in season opener

The Clark Fork Mountain Cats football team’s season opener was held on Friday, Sept. 1 in Alberton against Charlo. The team was met with defeat with a final score of 52-14. Charlo took an early lead putting 22 points on the board in the first and second quarters with 44-0 at the half. In the third quarter, both teams managed to put up another touchdown and the Cats pulled another touchdown in the fourth but it wasn’t enough for the win.
