The Adams County Fair Sept. 13-16 is sure to be a rip-roaring event for all who attend. The annual venue has roots dating back to the 1930s and was originally held in Ritzville. It was changed to its current location in Othello in the 1950s.

Fair goers will have an opportunity to peruse through a plethora of commercial exhibits and agricultural booths, tantalize their taste buds with plenty of good food, catch some live entertainment, hop on innumerable carnival rides, and enjoy multiple contests going on throughout the four-day extravaganza including a diaper derby, a tractor drive, round robin livestock showmanship, FFA and 4-H livestock and dairy judging, a tortilla toss and funnel cake eating to name a few. Live entertainment at the fair includes a draft horse pull, cowboy mounted shooters, Alaska pig races, county singer Cale Moon and hypnotist Tammy Harris Brown.

Daily ticket prices are $7 for adults (ages 12 and up), $5 for seniors 65 and older, and youth 7-11 years old. Children 6 and under, and military, fire, police and EMT personnel are admitted for free.

Weekly passes for adults are $21. Seniors and kids 7-11 years old are $15.

Gates open daily at 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, and at 11 p.m. Friday.

The always-thrilling smash-em up Othello Demolition Derby takes pace Wednesday. The gates open at 3 p.m. with time trails starting at 6:30. All tickets are $10. Kids 6 years old and under get in free with a paid adult.

Rodeo fans will be on the edge of their seats as cowboys and cowgirls from the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association compete in the arena on the fairgrounds. The action on Friday and Saturday night gets underway at 8. Friday rodeo tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for children 6-12 years old. Kids under 6 get in free. All rodeo tickets for Saturday are $15.
