Bigfork 14, Florence 8

FLORENCE — A blocked punt for a touchdown was the difference for Bigfork (2-0 Western B, 3-0 overall) in a Western B conference victory over Florence-Carlton (0-1, 1-2).

Chase Chappuis broke through the Florence line to block the punt and Jayden Dillon scooped it up for a touchdown to give the Vikings a 14-8 lead late in the third quarter. It was all Bigfork would need after a dominant defensive performance that saw the Vikings end the game on back-to-back sacks.

Florence’s Colby Kohlman gave the Falcons a lead on their first possession, ripping off a 25-yard touchdown run and hauling in the two-point conversion to go up 8-0.

Augie Emslie answered shortly after, finding Austin Varner on a 24-yard touchdown pass at the end of the first quarter to pull within one point. Florence stopped the Vikings twice on fourth down at the goal line, but Dillon’s touchdown helped Bigfork break through for the win.

Randy Stultz had 106 yards rushing and Emslie was 10 for 16 passing for 158 yards. Anders Epperly had 57 yards and Varner 54 yards receiving.
