Whitefish residents are invited to take part in an open house and workshop from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13, at Whitefish City Hall to get a progress report and offer input to the Whitefish Strategic Housing Plan.

Attendees will hear about the goals and objectives established by the Housing Plan Task Force, and the programs, projects and tools that have been identified to help tackle the housing shortage.

Those attending also will get an update on the work done to date by the task force and its six subcommittees, and can provide input to the task force and consultants as they work to fine-tune the plan prior to submitting it to the City Council in November.

With project coordination and oversight by the Whitefish Chamber of Commerce, the city of Whitefish is developing the housing plan to work toward providing more affordable workforce housing over the next 5 to 10 years.

The Montana Department of Commerce provided a federal Community Development Block Grant for development of the plan.
