WALLACE — The Wallace Elks Lodge brought some excitement to the small Idaho town last week when they held their 121st annual roundup.
The four day event promoted Elks ideals and raised money for their charity fund.
This fund goes toward youth scholarships, the Elks’ Christmas fund, veterans programs, and promote Americanism in our community.
Events kicked off last Wednesday when Haylie Betham was named Wallace Elks Queen at the Lodge’s pageant.
This was followed up by Lodge night on Thursday and a steak dinner on Friday.
The main event kicked off Saturday afternoon with a parade through town that included Elks members, emergency service officials with their vehicle, Wallace athletes, pageant contestants, local organizations, and many more.
The parade was lead by Elks lodge trustee and past Exalted Ruler- Col. William Wallace (Wait...I mean John Turner).
After the parade fun, attendees enjoyed a pig roast, music, and kids for the young ones.
The Wallace Elks Lodge #331 is one of the oldest in the nation and is located at 419 Cedar Street.

Fire destroys Wallace home
Shoshone County Fire District No. 1 Chief John Miller explains that at approximately 1:33 p.m., fire crews were notified of a possible structure fire when initial reports to dispatch indicated that "smoke was rolling into town" and it "smelled like a house fire."
